Well in 1347 a ship came back to Italy from Asia. Long trip right? Well the ship had black rats aboard and the black rats were carrying diseased fleas. It turned out the fleas were carrying the disease called the Black Death. When the black rats got to Italy they would carry the fleas to people and the fleas would give the disease to the people. The people called the Black Death the Black Death because the Italians sailed back on the Black Sea.
